Conciliation Office
The purpose of a conciliation office is to provide means for resolving disputes out of court. The parties are meant to reach an out-of-court settlement that is acceptable to both sides. Unlike with judgements, there are no “winners” or “losers” with such an amicable agreement, and personal relationships remain intact.
The conciliation office can be utilized at any time. Hence it is also possible to make use of mediation or any other conciliation procedure before a lawsuit starts pending. Our conciliation office is state-approved and mainly concerned with business and civil law cases, regardless of whether the dispute in question is between members of a team or between consumers and entrepreneurs.
In contrast to cost-intensive and time-consuming court proceedings, conciliation offices provide significant advantages to the parties:
Conciliation proceeding usually start within 14 days of application
Conciliation proceedings are non-public
Many proceedings can be completed within 1 to 2 days
The costs are predictable due to fixed hourly rates and agreed additional costs
The conflicting parties are actively involved in the process and its content, and the outcome are determined by the parties themselves
Settlements reached during conciliation are legally effective and equivalent to a court-acquired title
From the moment an application to conciliate is submitted – given it is sufficiently specific – the period of limitation of the concerned claims are suspended
